lend lease 590 orrong road

The Minister awaits your email. And your neighbours’.

We’re hurtling towards an expensive, time consuming, VCAT hearing with an uncertain result. It could all be avoided if Planning Minister Matthew Guy puts in place an Interim Planning Control (IPC) limiting construction on the site to 17 metres (about 5 storeys) and 250 units.

We want Minister Guy to do just that – and quick. Tell him you want that too by emailing him. And get everyone you know to do the same.  They just need to give a damn about Melbourne, over-development and the right of communities to shape what happens in their neighbourhood.

Use your (short, sharp, polite) words or cut and paste ours. Edit as you see fit.

Dear Minister,

For the past two years the community of Armadale has unanimously campaigned against the proposed Lend Lease development for 590 Orrong Road, 4 Osment Place Armadale. We think it is too big, too dense and completely out of character with our neighbourhood.

Lend Lease’s plan for high rise towers has been soundly rejected by City of Stonnington but is now headed to VCAT where the developer intends to overturn the decision. The hearing is set down for 12 days beginning Monday May 28.

I am contacting you to request that you use your authority as Minister to implement an interim planning control on the site limiting the developments to 17 metres and 250 units. This is the height agreed to by the Stonnington Council and the community of Stonnington in developing the Urban Design Framework for the site.

We believe that this would be a reasonable outcome for developers and the community and encourage you to pursue this option.

etc etc
